Calculating backup requirements…
Understanding Battery Sizing & DoD
To safely power your home during an outage, your battery bank must store enough energy to cover your daily consumption multiplied by the number of days you need backup (Days of Autonomy).
The DoD Factor: Batteries should never be drained to 0%, as this severely damages them. Lithium-ion (LiFePO4) batteries typically have an 80% to 90% Depth of Discharge (DoD) limit, while Lead-Acid batteries should only be drained to 50%. You must purchase a larger Gross Capacity to ensure your Usable Capacity meets your needs.
